FOSTERING A LOVE FOR MUSIC in WILLIAMSBURG’s YOUTH SINCE 1989

Below is an update about our Mask Policy for the Early Childhood Music School. I realize that our classes right now do not have the same requirements as KMO. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Below is our most recent update:

Dear ECMS,
With the resurgence of the COVID pandemic in our region last Fall, the Healthy Church Team of Williamsburg UMC chose to follow the counsel of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and mandate the use of masks for all those two years old and older within our building. Recently the CDC released new guidance on the use of masks, with particular regard for varying risk levels across the US. In our case, Williamsburg City, James City County, and York County are low-risk in terms of reported new infections. Relevantly, the trends in our area are also favorable.

After reviewing the data, the ECMS board and Healthy Church Team has decided that effective this Monday, March 21st, masks will be recommended but not required for those attending classes at ECMS.

We do encourage you to consult with your physician/health care provider as to safe conduct when you are among large groups of persons at present. We do note with appropriate gravity that our HCT’s consulting physician plans to continue to wear a mask during indoor activities in our building.  We also ask that all our ECMS family be thoughtful and supportive with respect to the choices of others to mask, or not to mask.

We will retain our practices of physical distancing, sanitizing, and symptom monitoring in our classrooms. We are so grateful for the lessening of cases in our region, for your patience and understanding these past two years, and to be able to see one another smile again!  We understand this change may create anxiety for some; all should know that we will continue to monitor local health data regularly and respond accordingly as trends change. We do ask that you continue to monitor symptoms before arrival and please remember that if you do test positive for COVID after recently being in one of our classes to please contact us so that we can appropriately contact trace.

Sincerely,
Anthony Williams

elliot’s song

An outreach program by the early childhood music school

Early Childhood Music School offers appropriate curricula taught by music specialists to address developmental needs of the “at risk” population in our community. Through your donation, Elliot’s Song provides—at no cost—30 weeks of instruction to preschool children for whom music education opportunities are limited because of social, economic or developmental factors.

By meeting once a week at 6 sites—in the comfort of their own classrooms—the Head Start and Bright Beginnings students experience music-based activities designed to promote their academic readiness, music skills and overall development.

Elliot’s Song is funded solely by grants, donations and fundraisers. Donations are tax deductible. To donate, either make your check payable to ECMS, denoting “Elliot’s Song” on the memo line or go to our online store to make a donation by credit card

Any amount is appreciated. Please note:

A donation of $30 sponsors a child for a semester/$60 for the whole year.

A donation of $400 sponsors an entire class for a semester/$800 for the whole year.
